Abrid wants the movie to be as realistic as possible. But that is not what actually happens in his life. Many might hope that Rameshan goes on to become a celebrated cricket player and gets placed in the Indian Cricket Team. 1983 stays in its own league as it does not morph into a flashy, masala filled movie, rather it follows a genre of simplicity, nostalgia, community, and innocence.
The movie takes a look at Rameshan’s life, his growth from a young boy to a teen, then a husband, and lastly to a father. Abrid Shine induces innocence and laughter in such scenes. Rameshan is shocked and devastated to find that his wife had no knowledge about the sport whereas he is crazy about it. She has zero clue about cricket, she asks Rameshan who the person in the poster is, it was a poster of Sachin Tendulkar. Manjula is left with no other choice but to leave him and marry someone else as her parents won’t approve of their marriage.Īfter Manjula leaves him, he is devastated and decides to marry another girl from his village. His father is really disappointed as his son couldn’t succeed like he wished him to, the sorrow remains and is indifferent towards him. However, he fails the twelfth standard and has no choice but to resort to help out in his father’s repair shop. While she concentrates on her studies, he continues crafting his game. His love interest in school is Manjula (Nikki Galrani) who is a bright student as well. He loves cricket and spends his free time with his group of friends who share his fondness of cricket. But Rameshan does not invest his time in studies or adheres to his father’s wishes. Gopi Aashaan, Rameshan’s father (Joy Mathew) wants his son to be an engineer as he is bright in studies and plans a life for him.
The movie showcases his life and the people around him. We have Rameshan (Nivin Pauly) who is an ardent fan of the sport and an amazing batsman. The people of Brahmamangalam are passionate about cricket and indulge in the game.
